UPDATE 1x: State Rep. Mike Unes released the following statement: It easy to kick a person when theyre down, but Ive always strived to help a person up. I have reached out and offered my support to my friend, Congressman Schock. Obviously, this is a sad and disappointing day for Central Illinois. Its unfortunate to have to address this issue so quickly following the announcement, but I have heard from a number of community leaders urging me to seek this position in the coming special election.

PEORIA, IL - Discussion and debate has already begun about who will run to replace Congressman Aaron Schock in the 18th District. Article II, Section 2, Clause 4 of the U.S. Constitution dictates that a state's governor must call for an election to fill any vacancy in the House of Representatives, including vacancies caused by a resignation.
The list of possible candidates includes:

Sen. Darin LaHood Sen. Bill Brady Sen. Jason Barickman Rep. Tom Demmer Rep. Michael Unes Demetra DeMonte (Update: DeMonte told IR she's not running)
