They have strict gun control in keeping with being a communist state run by thugs. The people have few options for resistance.

A few points to add.
When we lived in Medellin Colombia a couple of yrs ago we met several families from Venezuela..escapees.
Now a lot of Cuban health care folks have escaped and are in Colombia.
Here in S Florida you can see SOS Venezuela bumper stickers and signs.
One of my neighbors went back recently to conduct biz..he is a dealer in gems....he hasnt been seen since.
