I would say, “especially” rather than “even.”
Strange story, but good food for thought about how to handle such situations. He’s lucky they didn’t take his gun and kill him.
Oh boy, I can shoot somebody who “gets mouthy” at me? Cool.
I’m not sure if this was written by a practiced or professional writer. The story is choppy, and changes the timeline back and forth as it introduces new characters.
Important details surface very late in the piece, and are not followed up on or elaborated on.
A teen and and old man pulled over to the side of the road after a roadrage incident, the teen got out of his car, walked over the older mans car and punched the old man in the face. The old man was carrying and shot the teen dead.
The fault here is that the kid was either too stupid or angry or probably both to realize that assaulting someone might get you shot and you may end up dead.
The important point here is when someone is assaulting you, you don't know if they wish to kill you or just punch you a couple of times. But it is and should be the right of the person being assaulted to assume the worst case.
Wonder if this was a similar situation.
Missing information: did they steal his gun? If not, then why not? In their shoes, you would first want to incapacitate, but then disarm. It would be a priority.
