Today on Outnumbered Fox News, Kirsten Powers talked about how terrible it is that terrorists in Gitmo would be held there indefinitely and are entitled to Due Process and a fair trial. To that I say this:
These are not criminals. These are not US citizens. They are prisoners in their own declared War Against the Infidel. Put them on trial? The Geneva Conventions have strict restrictions regarding taking POWs to Court -- which are generally conducted by an international body, do not occur until the war is ended and are for War Crimes or criminal acts while in captivity.
It is not as if these Islamic terrorists are obeying International Law when they capture one of ours.
Let us consider the fact that their intention is to use violence against soldiers, government officials and civilians in order to cause changes to our domestic and foreign policies. Their ultimate object is to replace our way of life with theirs. These are not criminal objectives; they are strategic objectives.
The main purpose of terrorism is to perpetrate atrocities that will garner media attention. They want us to respond with restrictions to our freedoms that will have us thinking about them [and their demands] every time we do something like having to take off our shoes at the airport. Gitmo was specifically chosen to deprive terrorists of media access and trials have been eschewed to deprive them of platforms for their propaganda.
How long should they be held? It is typical practice to hold POWs until the war is officially ended. They can be released when they explicitly give up their above-stated objectives and demonstrate through word and deed that they resolve to live in peace with us.
So long as the war's end is indefinite to them, so then should be their captivity.
She probably already have Islamic terrorists living in her neighborhood if she’s living near any major city.
Yeah, probably, but these would be a bit more high profile.
They are not criminals, they are irregular combatants. According to the Geneva Convention they are entitled to summary execution.
I am all for military tribunals followed by immediate execution.
Due process is a legal concept, regarding our law in a criminal case, never intended for battle field enemies nor worse, stinken' cowards that use terror and EIDs to kill us.
Let us remember that the Bush’s predecessor also treated terrorism as a law-enforcement issue — which arguably led to 9/11. The Democrats love to try the same solutions that failed before, which is the definition of insanity.
They should have never been in Gitmo in the first place, they should have been shot on the spot.
Abso-damn-lutely!!!! Those freakin’ murderous muslim savages deserve no mercy. Zip. Zero. Nada.
Use em for trolling the gulfstream for big fish
Well I’m sort of with Kirsten in that I don’t think we should be holding them indefinitely either. We should have interrogated them then double tapped them.
