Oh No! Ted Cruz Was Once Ticketed for an Unopened Case of Beer
The American Spectator's Spectacle Blog ^ | January 14, 2015 | Emily Zanotti

The Internet is utterly scandalized.

With a burgeoning primary comes Freedom of Information Act requests, and three reporters at Buzzfeed (three reporters), were apparently tasked with using FOIA to reveal the horrors of Ted Cruz's adolescent years. Pursuant to that mission, they came into possession of Cruz's 2003 application to be Solicitor General of Texas.

In a shocking revelation from the documents that surprises absolutely no one who spent any fraction of their late teens in the company of other people in their late teens, it turns out Ted Cruz was once ticketed for possessing alcohol as a minor, after a 1987 police stop that revealed an unopened case of cheap beer in his trunk. The Presidential contender then pled guilty to the misdemeanor. And then, decades later, an Internet news organization is utterly scandalized.

In an application for the position, accessed via a Texas Public Information request, Cruz listed among his references Supreme Court Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist whom he clerked for. The application also reveals Cruz’s past salaries as an attorney, his recent legal record, speeches, professional associations, and a 1987 guilty plea for possession of alcohol as a minor.

An aide to Sen.Cruz said he was a senior in high school and got pulled over and they found an unopened case of beer and he received a ticket.

“Teenagers often make foolish mistakes, and that certainly applied to me as well,” Cruz said in a statement provided to BuzzFeed News.

Let's be clear. Cruz was not arrested then, or now, for public intoxication. He was charged with a crime, pled guilty and, one can assume since no bench warrant was issued for non-payment, that he both attended his day in court and paid the ticket in full.....

Amazing what the press can dig up on a Senator, but absolutely NO interest whatsoever on a POTUS.

In fact the "press" attacks everyone who even dares try.

Only a *racist* wants to find out what grades Obama got in college, or who HE listed as a "reference".

What a terrible thing for Ted Cruz to admit being a member of the Choom Gang and associate with communists and deviants...oh, wait!

To the left this disqualifies him. Now if he had drank the beer and gotten drunk with a girl in the car then ran off a bridge then swam to shore and left her to drown, that would be no problem.

Was this before or after he traveled to Pakistan with his gay Pakistani roommate? Perhaps his transgender, cross-dressing nanny put the case of beer in his car?

No way I could support Cruz after this revelation. I draw the line at smoking weed, and snorting coke.

well that’s it, he might as well pull out of the race- He’s finished, all washed up- in order for a republican to run for office, they have to be mother Theresa - but if a dem runs, the more corrupt the better apparently

isn’t Ted Cruz Hispanic? If so he should immediately start whining loudly that the press is being racist

He should state “At least I didn’t drive off a bridge in Martha’s vineyard- and I wasn’t drunk- there’s no crime in transporting alcohol

Now that Cruz is of age, he should ask to get his beer back.

I’m sorry, but an unopened case of beer is a serious offense.

Just sitting there, not being used! That’s not right!
