As far as the moral aspect is concerned, Islamic terrorism is wicked and so was the Soviet Union. Both deserved to be annihilated. Brzezinskis strategy was to use one to annihilate the other.

You could find a lot of talk thirty years ago about using Islam to win the Cold War.
And it wasn't called terrorism at the time either. The government distinguished between the Mujahideen in Afghanistan and Arab terrorists elsewhere in the Middle East.
