Obviously I too don’t know what REALLY happened, but I do know, at least in Texas, that if I brought in one of my kids to the ER and told that story, it would be MONTHS (at least) before CPS would let me see him again.

...in fact, for something like that, I’d probably let the wounds heal as best they can, move to another state, and then, later, get him plastic surgery. He’d still be happier in the end than having to deal with the foster care system.

Hmmm, when my daughter, now 25, was a toddler, she was helping mom in the kitchen, on the counter, fell and busted her lip.

We patched her up, nothing serious, but when we were at the grocery store with her sitting in the kids seat in the shopping cart, we got very mean looks; this was in '92.

Just kept her at home until all was healed.
