On the rare occasion I find myself in agreement with President Obama, I get nervous.
It just feels like a setup. Like someone's going to pull the rug out from under me at any moment.
But right now, I have to admit, I was very pleased to hear the news that the U.S. and Cuba are moving to normalize relations.

Dude must be one of those solid “conservatives” who’ve been phoning Rush all week.
The US policy for Cuba in 50 years has accomplished zero. Its not working. Everybody but us is and has been interacting with Cuba. Well actually we have a Diplomatic Mission in downtown Havana with a full staff so theoretically we are interacting.
Conservative values hasn’t got anything to do with it. Its a poor foreign policy decision that the Cuban enclave in S Florida has held the GOP hostage over for years. We need to establish official diplomatic ties and start holding out the carrots in return for changes in Cuba. This way we can squeeze Russia and Iran out as well which we should do. The Castro boys will be dead soon. Its time to take hold of Cuba and get them to change course. Its a little crappy Island you fly over to get to Jamaica for God’s sake.
We give Pakistan 1.2 billion per year and they are worse than Cuba will ever be.
You get too emotional about this stuff. Foreign policy isn’t about emotion its about reality.
So because the rest of the world does a thing, we should as well. thats what your points come down to. I don’t see any advantage to America opening Cuba under a communist. Our cash then supports communism directly.
As for Pak, we should stop funding EVERYONE but Israel since they have taken plenty of hits for us, and then review them all.
When Castro dies, then we can talk. Otherwise you are advocating another loss for America. Thats factual. Not emotional.
Just what tax dollars are spent on the embargo?
You and South 40 should get together and have a boo hoo hanky party about it. LOL!
I note you refuted nothing.
Hi Georgia Girl.
Most of what you say is accurate, but think about this...
There are millions of Cubans who had their businesses taken, their property confiscated, and their families killed.
Imo, reparations and compensation are necessary for a normalization with Cuba, period.

I have ad nauseum listed on numerous threads in the last 24 hours why this is the ritht thing. Hopefully you girls will get over the vapors about it soon. :-)
People using terms like ‘boo hoo hanky party’ probably arent concerned about that. It’s likely a lesser evil.
Hey FR is filled with liberals lately. No surprise you bat for that team.
“Hey FR is filled with liberals lately”
Yeh its filled with trolls too. You should stick to the Civil War threads where at least you have some entertainment value. LOL!
And you should stick to your lesser evil mantra. I’m sure all the dead Cubans find your levity inspiring.
Yeah. But show me an example of where 'sanctions' worked.
It never happened.
Show me an example where sanctions worked.

So instead we reward them and encourage more bad behavior. Because appeasing dictators worked so well for Neville Chamberlin.
I understand the good folks at MSNBC also agree with you, as do world-renowned foreign policy "experts" Hillary Clinton and Jimmy Carter. And of course, the worst negotiator in the history of the US, Barack Obama. Bravo! You're in good company!

So again, show me an example where sanctions worked
BHO is a Johnny come lately to my party. I was pushing this years ago when he was riding around with the Choom gang.
I hate to tell you but even a blind bird gets a worm once in awhile. This is the right thing to do and later you will realize it. Dry your eyes and try to learn to sleep without the nightlight. The Cubans are not comin to get ya. :-) I’ll bet before yesterday you hadn’t thought about Cuba since 5th grade.
Sanctions worked so well with Cuba, Iran, Iraq ...
