Sounds like sooner or later it will come to either armed resistance, or the obliteration of the traditional culture.
There are plenty of examples where the prevailing traditional culture and values either gave up or were forced by others to acquiesce to something worse. Think South Africa, Rhodesia, Lebanon, Bosnia, Russia, Cambodia, South Vietnam, Kalifornia,... the list goes on and on.
