In an article whose every paragraph drips with sneering condescension towards the "Religious Right," Jay Michaelson at the Daily Beast congratulates clever Satanists for sticking it to the "right-wing 'religious liberty' movement" by getting their own holiday display in the Florida Capitol rotunda, complete with an angel (presumably Lucifer) getting his ass kicked out of Heaven and "falling from the sky in flames, surrounded by Biblical verses."
What a lovely sentiment for the holiday season! I wonder if the perpetrators of this little act of cultural vandalism are over-estimating how offended Christians are likely to become over such a display, to the extent they give it a second thought at all. The fall of Lucifer was sort of a Super Bowl championship-ring moment for the good guys. Serious Satanism is post-game locker-room spin. (Frivolous Satanism, which is most of it, is a satire of organized religion conducted by snotty atheists.)

How sad it is that all they have to offer is hate of other people.
What a miserable existence.
Hate is easy to sell, love is a lot harder.
exposing their damaged souls for all to behold..
how fitting
There is no reason to cast pearls before swine, Jesus said. I think these folks fit the description of what Jesus meant.
The 60s brought us the “down with the establishment/man/authority” mentality. And we’re still stuck with that silliness. Losers everywhere crave attention.
Christians and Christianity have been mocked by much better people than this bozo. Unlike some, we chose not to do evil unto those who wish us evil. As for Mr Michelson's spirituality ... I think it needs work.

I have a sister like that. Not a satanist that I know of but gets joy from seeing others unhappy, especially if she caused it.
Actually, they hate and war against Christ. Good luck with all that. The ones in power that aid and abet these Satanic demands, either out of ignorance or mean spiritedness, I would not want to be them.
This has nothing to do with Christians. It does not alter us nor does it touch us. They are doing it to themselves and they will be touched by what they are doing in ways they won’t like much.
Satanists have to be the champions of Magic Thinking. I mean, God created the demon they worship, yet they worship that lesser, created being over the Creator! Sheesh, what maroons!
I saw the picture of the display. Cheesy. Extremely cheesy.
Hobby Lobby gone awry. Like a 5th grade display cooked up overnight because Johnny just remembered it in the nick of time.
Was watching a Christmas show on Hallmark the other night and a friend, who is becoming rather militant about this sort of thing, kept remarking “Looks like a WASP’y Christmas”.
My response
That’s fine but, God’s message of Christianity is it’s universality of salvation.
That is there is no rite of initiation or proving oneself worthy over and over again.
If your not Jewish then Hannukah is only for Jews and if you wanna join the tribe, why there is an awful lot of work to do and maybe you’ll be accepted or you can just write a rather large check and Voila’! Yer a Hebe.
Mormons, 7th Day Adventist, Jehovah’s Witness? Work to show you you are worthy and quite a bit of ritual ceremonies.
Moslems? Don’t get me started.
Other belief systems that have no faith of a Supreme Being and no hope of immortality?
They are not universal, open to all mankind for seeking, so will find, asking and they will receive and knocking, that the door will be open unto you.
He isn’t THE anti-Christ, put he serves him.
Anybody got a link to a picture of the display? My son saw it somewhere and said it looked like a third grade class project.
