Three Reasons Why Black Men Should Openly Carry a Gun after Trayvon, Ferguson, and John Crawford
Huffington Post ^ | 12/01/2014 | H. A. Goodman

I never thought I'd be an open carry advocate.

However, I'm a firm believer in working within the American political system in order to change the status quo. If the 2nd Amendment is cherished by millions of Americans, then why not use it to further certain liberal ideals? Protecting African-American lives and alleviating tensions between the black community and law enforcement should be a top priority of all Americans and especially Congress, however this is not the case. It speaks volumes that African-Americans vote over 90% Democrat during national elections, yet our future nominee in 2016 still hasn't addressed an issue the whole nation is talking about; even after Darren Wilson's acquittal and the flames that engulfed Ferguson.

With all our advancements as a nation, there's still a correlation between today and 1895; the year Ida B. Wells wrote The Red Record. We live in a surreal time period where the deaths of unarmed black males still take place, even though we have a black president and African-Americans today possess more rights than at any other point in U.S. history. While rioting by a very small percentage of protestors does a disservice to the memory of Michael Brown and the cause of saving black lives or preventing future Fergusons, there are legal and more effective ways to solve our nation's moral conundrum pertaining to racial profiling, police brutality, and issues related to the deaths of unarmed citizens.

many people are not responsible enough to walk around with a open carry...

More than a few are wearing police uniforms.

Speaking of unarmed black males. Since MB was shot over 2000 black males have been murdered by other black males.
And not by cops, or whitey.

I wouldn’t let my sons carry until I was sure they knew gun safety and were mature enough. But that’s MY call, not any government’s.

We live in an all-too-understandable world in which we have a black president and black Americans possess more rights than at any other point in U.S. history - and blacks therefore have the ability to cast blame on whites for everything that goes wrong in the country.

If they didn’t have the propaganda wire services on their side, they couldn’t do it - but they do, and they can. And, since they can, they do. “Deaths of unarmed black males . . . take place” by the thousands without a peep - but let a man who can even be called white by stretching a point (Zimmerman) be involved, and suddenly it is the Lindberg kidnapping all over again.

I do not believe arming the unarmed blacks will prevent them dieing due to being shot.

Sure it will prevent them from dieing unarmed but will now just start the nigra crowd saying “he did not pull his gun”.

The gimmedat crowd will always find a reason to burn down their own houses. 3rd generation handouts have made it so.

Nothing will change while they remain on the Democrat plantation and accept the freebies of the Dem masters

Driving a car on public roads is a privilege, not a right. Carrying a gun should properly treated as a right. A a firearms instructor I agree with you. As a libertarian leaning right winger, I can not.

I’d like to see all law-abiding Americans carry either open of concealed. This writer, despite his racist intent, will get no objection from me.

Same here - when I carry (everywhere I can), I make a point of being more polite and sporting thicker skin. Weapons are one area where familiarity can breed respect - for the weapon and for human life.

Too bad so many of them are convicted felons and can’t legally own a firearm. LOL.

Or have to commit crimes to get the money to buy them. Lots of black men already carry just not legally.

I tried. Really tried to get past the 5th sentence. No, buddy, blacks don’t vote RAT because of tensions between them and LEO. They vote RAT for freebies. There wouldn’t be tensions if blacks dropped the gangsta ‘tude.

I am completely pro 2nd amendment ...it's reasonable to ask people to pass a test to carry a weapon...

Ask or require?

“...even though we have a black president and African-Americans today possess more rights than at any other point in U.S. history.”

So some damn commie - probably a white-guilt lib - finally admits it is never enough. Nothing is ever enough.

Must everyone be required to pass a test to buy a knife? God forbid a sword, or bow?

This may be slightly beside the point here, but the “training” thing really gets on my nerves WRT firearms.

One of the boons of firearms was they did NOT require all the training and honing of those other weapons. They were much easier to use and did NOT require constant practice to use well and properly. Much less athleticism involved. Much less these days, with such advanced technology over the last 100 years alone.

Driving is a privilege, not a right. The two are not analogous.
