A miraculous thing happened this week. After years of stonewalling Congress with claims that Lois Lerner’s emails were lost forever and could not be recovered, the IRS finally handed them over to congressional investigators for analysis.
Up to 30,000 missing emails sent by former Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner have been recovered by the IRS inspector general, five months after they were deemed lost forever.
The U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) informed congressional staffers from several committees on Friday that the emails were found among hundreds of “disaster recovery tapes” that were used to back up the IRS email system.
The original claim by the IRS that Lerner’s emails were not backed up has always been a lie, and an obvious one at that. You would have to be particularly gullible to believe a government agency that demands citizens maintain personal financial records for years in the off chance of audit would not have failsafe systems in place should there be a catastrophic loss of data.
But that didn’t stop the IRS from lying to Congress over and over again when they insisted that Lerner’s emails could not be produced. The reason is simple: they thought they could get away with it.
Congress doesn’t have prosecutorial discretion. They can’t go after lawbreakers. If someone is brazen enough to lie while testifying before Congress, it is the Department of Justice’s responsibility to prosecute them for perjury. Unfortunately for the American people Eric Holder has made it clear that the DOJ would never, ever bring anyone to justice while covering for the lawless Obama regime.
The IRS would have gotten away with hiding Lerner’s emails from Congress if it weren’t for a particularly ornery Federal Judge, Emmet G. Sullivan. Sullivan, originally appointed by President Clinton, has made a name for himself as a non-partisan crusader against government corruption.
Judge Sullivan is the judge who held federal prosecutors in contempt, dismissed an unjust indictment against a United States Senator, and publicly excoriated the Department of Justice. He also had the moral conviction, courage and gumption to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the Justice Department and the individual prosecutors.
Since his appointment to the Judicial Watch vs. IRS case Sullivan has become Holder’s worst nightmare. Sullivan didn’t buy the government’s story on Lerner’s missing emails. Rather than rely on the IRS’s misleading testimony to Congress, he insisted that IRS officials and technology specialists explain under oath why Lerner’s emails were not recoverable, statements that if found in error would lead to their prosecution.
Faced with the very real possibility of going to jail for lying to a federal judge, the IRS trail of lies abruptly ended. Next thing you know the IRS was admitting that Lerner’s email backups existed and that their technology experts would comb the tapes to provide the appropriate copies to Congress.
It is pathetic that a government agency can feel comfortable with lying to Congress and shows how far the Obama administration has fallen under the President’s leadership. While the IRS may eventually be held accountable for targeting innocent Americans, Holder and other lawbreakers in the DOJ will continue to roam free, a travesty of justice if there ever was one.
Not enough to prevent tampering. No independent checksums are associated with emails. That’s what you’d really need to help prevent tampering. Without it, tampering is a breeze.
You are probably right. I will go one further. He will give a blanket pardon for everyone and for everything they may or may not have done in their entire lives, or will do in the next two years. Most of us have said that no one in the Obungler administration will ever be held accountable for anything. Maybe this is how he will do it. Here is another angle. If the Obungler also patrons Biden for anything, maybe in December of 2016, he will resign and let Biden pardon him too. Nothing these ass hats do surprises me.

Won’t the emails show who they were sent to and then can’t those accounts be checked as well? Just thinking out loud here.
MSM, other alternative media, in email updates from my local chapter of the Tea Party or even on the talk radio that I've been adicted to since Rush started in Sacramento in 1985!!!

Yeah!.....hmmm, Obama hangs around another year then resigns (because that is what he wants anyway) then Biden pardons him AND Biden then has all the taxpayer support to run for Prez and carry on with the Obamanation!!!!
