Neither does a spouse or children. Only God.

God created marriage and blessed it. God commanded the first couple to "be fruitful and multiply". It's true God fulfills, yet God also fulfills through lifelong, blessed, family relationships, which He fully intended for us.

I think it’s more that God purifies us through suffering and teaches us to value Him rather than creatures.
