Earlier today I wrote about the way the official Obamacare website has apparently recruited people to post thousands of comments each, creating the appearance of mass support, a variant on the traditional astroturfing strategy of creating bogus grassroots organizations.
Big Fur Hat of iOTW Report has spotted what looks very much like a Craigslist ad recruiting trolls to post positive or negative comments on left-wing or conservative websites, respectively. The text in full, as well as a screen capture (in case the ad is removed), follow:
We are a large social activism organization that advocates on behalf of issues including the environment, human rights, animal welfare, social justice, politics and more. We are seeking part-time interns who are interested in working on these important causes. Interns will improve their writing and research skills, while building a broad portfolio of online writing samples.
Interns are given broad discretion in choosing the causes they work on. The time commitment is flexible and work can be done from anywhere with an Internet connection. Applicants should have a strong interest in activism and possess good writing and Internet skills, but prior activism experience is not required.

This is supposed to be a conservative web site, not a Republican web site.

Hmmmm ..?? How can you tell if a person has multiple screen names ..??
And .. the Trolls I was writing about actually happened here at FR. When I discovered what they were doing, I quietly notified those posters that I knew (via private mail), telling them what was going on.
Eventually, most people knew about the game and we basically put them out of business .. it was great!!
Yes, I have seen that .. but fortunately, it was on threads where I was not particularly interested in the subject anyway.
Oh yeah, another “political junkie” .. I thought I was the only one ..???

As a mother and concerned citizen, I plan to vote Yes on Initiative 594 this November. Initiative 594 will close the loophole in our current background check system and keep guns out of dangerous hands.
DENISE GARCIA, Bainbridge Island
A little investigation gleaned this from Bainbridge Notebook blogsite: “Denise Garcia, the tireless and awesome Bainbridge ambassador to Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense . . .”
Handing a gun to a buddy to shoot is a misdemeanor or felony?
The courts will strike this down.
Sheriffs that I've talked to will not enforce it.
You can’t automatically tell. They have to slip up and you have to catch them.
Good luck!
