....In my far less titillating research on the Hamilton Project (see work listed below), I have come across some interesting ties between MIT economist Jonathan Gruber and the Hamilton Project. Gruber–it turns out–carries bags for the Obama administration and the Goldman Sachs, Robert Rubin-funded Hamilton Project. Gruber is a RentEconomist ready and seemingly willing to take any economic position (pardon the RentBoy inspired pun) you might want, for money that is, lots of it as Emptwheel has shown.......
....But while I have been doing research recently on the links between the Obama government and Robert Rubin and Goldman Sachs and the think tank they founded, The Hamilton Project, I have found that there are Obama-Gruber-Rubin/Goldman Sachs/Hamilton Project connections going back to 2006.....
......Perhaps the most important of these was at the launch of the Hamilton Project back on April 5, 2006. Who attended the launch? Well, Robert Rubin, ex-head of Goldman Sachs was there, of course, because he and Goldman provided the bucks for the Hamilton Project. It’s a neo-liberal think tank cleverly hidden like a Trojan Horse within the Brookings Institution, which is generally seen by the press as "liberal".
Who else was there? Yes, RentEconomist Gruber was there; in fact he was a panel presenter. Who else?
None other than a young Senator from Illinois by the name of Barack Obama. RentSenator Obama gave a speech (you can see a video of it here as well as full information on the launch) at the Hamilton Project in which he thanked "my friend, Bob" [Rubin], and launched into a defense of NAFTA and the need for more NAFTAs as well as a need for cuts in entitlements (like social security).

Strobe Talbot served as Deputy Secretary of State from 1994 to 2001 during the Clinton Administration.
Gruber worked in the Treasury Dept. in 1997,1998.
These guys know how to get paid, that’s for sure. Of course, that IS the name of the game.

Paulson (Bush SEC) was on phone regularly with Obama during the 2008 Campaign, and Lehman turned down Buffet’s money, which was same investment he made in Goldman Sacks.
He let Lehman Bros fall, so that Zero would win election. However, that may have been pre planned...considering Kissingers statement.

Whoa! Firedoglake? Even the lefties are piling on!
I think the statements in which Gruber has admitted that Obama was in the meeting at the White House (Executive branch and cabinet members were participant) to lie to get the bill to be accepted by Congress, should be the smoking gun to tie Obama’s part to conspiracy to commit fraud against the American people. If that’s not high crimes, I don’t know what is.
I am glad that gruber is now a special meaning. I would also hope that Goldman Sachs is not the financial institution that comes to my mind as associated with Ted Cruz’s wife.

I would think the ZEROCARE they are paying for is binding them financially, and they want rid of it too.

The foundations being referred to are the big tax exempt foundations which include the Rockefeller Foundation, the Carnegie Foundation and the Ford Foundation, among others.
At one time they were under investigation by the Reece Committee in the House of Representatives because it was suspected that they were being used to support communism.
It is to be noted that Barack Obama's mother Ann Dunham worked with former Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner's father Peter Geithner for the Ford Foundation peddling microfinance in Indonesia.
Microfinance seems to have been a kind of precursor to the sub-prime lending fiasco that went down in flames as a consequence of lending to people who would ordinarily be considered unqualified borrowers.

Whether lefty or not, I was going by the information in the particular article there connecting Gruber to Goldman-Sachs, the Brookings Institution-based Hamilton Project and Obama going back to 2006 - which certainly made me sit up and take notice.
Yeah, right.
I am really sorry. I honestly didn’t realize that this was what I was doing when I hit the “Activist” button. I will be careful not to do it again.
