Over gum? Seriously? I honestly can’t find it rude if someone is chewing gum around me.

You don't hold meetings with the leaders of the world's top powers chomping on gum. Its utterly classless.

I agree. He looks like a 10 year old who cannot tie his shoe laces! Watching him in China I got the impression he was out of his league and had no idea what he was doing there.

Never mind world leaders - would you do this when meeting a prospective business client? If so, you would probably do it only once.

Indeed, totally classless. Tacky and even downright unmanly as well. Not the kind of comportment befitting a leader, to put it mildly. He might have just as well gotten up on stage and scratched his crotch in front of everybody.

I don’t care, per se, that the Chinese were offended. But this is the kind of action that puts on display throughout the world that the United States is no longer a serious country. A serious country would not have such a pathetic individual as its leader. We have fully “earned” the disrespect we receive.
