Klain is the one-hundred-day guy. He’s there to basically set up a shop, hire some facilitators and scientists, and delay talks to the Senate until January. By that point, the Republican majority Senate will sit down and ask so many questions that the President will be forced to admit that hiring a political guy was a mistake. But by this point, the quarantined crowd will number over 2,000 and be beyond any point of stopping.
I would also suggest that the President really doesn’t appreciate the 2-star common sense style of the CDC, and probably doesn’t want to sit in any conference room with them any longer....thus handing the job over to Klain. The CDC over the past month haven’t impressed anyone, and I’d say that it’s almost time to bring in some four-star Army medical general and press the CDC back to handling measles shots.
