Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said during a news conference Wednesday that a Texas nurse should not have taken a flight the day before she was diagnosed with the deadly Ebola virus.
The CDC acknowledged on October 15th that a 26-year-old nurse named Amber Vinson became the second Texas hospital worker who contracted Ebola while treating Thomas Duncan; she tested positive for Ebola on October 14th. But the Washington Post reported Vinson had a potentially contagious fever of 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit before she boarded Frontier Airlines Flight 1143 back to Dallas-Fort Worth from Cleveland. The CDC said public health workers are trying to interview the 132 passengers.
Frieden declared, Even though there appeared to be little risk for the other people on that flight, she [Vinson] should not have traveled that way. He described Vinson as ill but clinically stable but stated CDC transferred her by medical air ambulance to Emory University Hospital to be near their headquarters in Atlanta.
A report by ABCs WFAA news states that Frontier Airlines confirmed Vinson also flew to Ohio from Dallas-Fort Worth on Flight 1142 on October 10th; Vinson on her round trip flights would have come into contact with about 264 passengers and 10 crew members. However, during her time in Dallas-Fort Worth while suffering from a fever, Vinson could have had contact with up to 60,000 airport employees and 165,542 passengers that

The two nurses infected with Ebola and the national panic as a result would NEVER have happened if we had closed admission to the US by persons from Ebola infected areas.
This really should not have even been a question in the nurse's mind. Especially since Nina Pham got it after being geared up. After the obvious incompetence at the CDC, she's going the play "Mother May I" with those clowns? Would you take life and death advice from an Obama appointee? Yeah, neither would I.
I blame the nurse too. But, if she is going down, I like that she managed to take the CDC with her.
"You make the call."
Fox is just reporting that Amber Vinson is not and was not completely honest when she called the CDC. They are now learning that she had not been feeling well while she was in Cleveland, so much that she cancelled her meeting with her bridesmaids. Who knows who is being truthful, the bottom line is Amber was a sick girl days prior to the return flight to Dallas.
And who knows what this nurse’s thinking was. She may have been running a higher fever, but brought the temperature down with medication so she could make the return flight home. It was illuminating to read she didn’t meet with her bridesmaids while there so she wouldn’t expose them, but didn’t feel the same caution for exposing hundreds of strangers, all the passengers and others on her flight home. Unless he has a natural immunity, it seems certain e her fiancé has now been exposed and those he has been in contact with. Sad.

Maybe someone with some Photoshop skills can take their Dumb & Dumber poster and put them in containment suits.
Or maybe Dr. Strangecure, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Ebola. Put Frieden in a wheelchair with a rebellious arm.
I think w/the mixed messages and lack of guidance from the CDC and/or anyone else in authority it was predictable that things would go very wrong. I don’t know how experienced this nurse is; however, she appears to be very young like the other infected nurse. I would definitely cut them some slack; as the real culprit here is the CDC and probably the senior hospital staff for not issuing clear and proper guidance; or demanding same in the case of the senior hospital staff.
These nurses are now dealing w/the fact they were deliberately exposed (without proper guidance or equipment) to a disease that is lethal in 50% to 90% of cases and for which there is no known cure. They likely feel like they have been betrayed by both the CDC and their senior management People tend not to think clearly or rationally in these situations and these nurses haven’t had the benefit of any competent leadership IMHO.
To answer your question, no, I do not and would not trust the senior appointed officials at CDC. There are likely a lot of competent staff there; but, that would be amongst the career staff. Unfortunately, Dr Frieden is an appointee and obviously a politician first and foremost; and his arrogance only adds to the problem. He is the worst possible person for the demands of the current health crisis.
Psst...Thomas Frieden. Amber also had a big gulp!
“Frieden isnt incompetent, its intentional.”
funny thing about these libs, it is actually both incompetency and intentional.
Think of the way people like Obama, Kerry, Gore act and they are not as smart as they think they are.
Just remember...A person with Obola can sit next to someone on a plane and they are unable to infect that person...Also, a person with Obola should not fly on a commercial jet as they might infect others...There, I think that about covers it...
