That's the problem. Tony shouldn't have been speeding. The race was under caution.
What shouldn't have happened was Tony shouldn't have been that high up the track under caution.
But, what the hell, he's a sports star so what difference do facts make.
Who was high?
Ward committed suicide by sprint car
Interesting set of facts you have there. I saw a guy get out of his car, move down the track and then walk a few more steps down the track about the time that Tony was already committed to the turn.now, unbelievably, we know this guy was high on marijuana which is truly an unexpected additional fact.
The individual who got out of his car and stupidly walked down the track is 100% at fault. If you didn’t do that he would be dead. I am no Tony fan, but he’s not the one walking around the track with sprint cars going around at high speeds.
But, what the hell, he's a sports star so what difference do facts make.It appears that the facts make *all* the difference, according to the more than two-dozen witnesses and experts who testified under oath in court.
Do you think that the verdict would have gone the other way if you were allowed to testify?
Who needs facts when there’s a lynching to do?

I don’t know how much you know about racing. I suspect very little I have been around many kinds of racing since I was 17 & I am just short of 75.
Yes, the caution flag was in place——on a track where the caution flag is thrown ONLY at the start/finish line. Cars still ‘race to the flag’. Normal & standard. Nothing about that was one little bit different that evening.
When Tony got the yellow caution flag, he was at the start/ finish, and he WAS SLOWING DOWN, along with the other drivers. These cars don’t slow down like a dropped stone. They are SLOWING DOWN. They don’t go into a lower gear-—there isn’t even a clutch in those cars. They are push-started in gear. The accident against the kid was just coming out of turn 2 or so. That is JUST PAST the start/finish line. I think that was a 1/2 mile track, so drivers are concentrating on slowing down & not hitting the car in front of them & not getting hit from behind.
They certainly ARE NOT looking for a PEDESTRIAN on the track surface!!!!!!
I am sorry that you do not have any background in racing. It is a sport that provides many innovations for the general public & also for the early days of the Space program in the USA. Even the parachutes which brought our early capsules back into the ocean were made by a company that made drag racing parachutes.
IF Tony had been speeding, as you say, then Tony WOULD HAVE HIT THE CAR IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF HIM, as that driver was slowing down for the caution flag.
Please try & find friends of yours who can explain what I am saying in more detail. I have known a great number of drivers in drag racing, Trans Am, Can Am, Indy cars, & NASCAR. They are all competing when driving. Some are more talented than others & go far. I never met a single one who would deliberately try to hit a driver on his feet on the track surface.
The kid made a series of mistakes, and now we find out he was under the influence of pot. What a sad ending for all the time & money his family put into this team so HE could have a chance ‘at his dream’. You might be able to use POT to be an aspiring RAPPER-—but NOT a racing driver.
Tony did NOTHING wrong.
