No matter what the Free Syrian Army or ISIS or ISIL (whatever it calls itself now), these savages are still the same 7th century death cult that their ancestors were 1,400 years ago when Mohammad the Madman spread this curse on civilization. It's not 'whatever'. Nor am I one to believe that ANYTHING be done pre-mid-terms.

If the a$$hat in the oval office could focus more on real foreign policy rather than a fictitious cold war of his own creation (Ukraine), then maybe we have half a chance at getting the Syrians & Iraqis to do the job they OUGHT to rather than putting more blood in the sand (ours).

If government/intelligence adopted the view that Islam were 'an enemy', a 20-year plan of disinformation & psyops would serve to destroy the religion from within...but I have zero faith in that scenario occurring in my lifetime (if ever).

The folks commenting on the crudity of the equipment miss the important message: that lightly educated, poorly supplied people can build effective and reasonably sophisticated weapons. That large spigot mortar about halfway down the page is impressive - it's been a long time since I've seen that technology applied to deliver large payloads. The remotely-controlled machinegun is excellent and that homemade armored car with the television observation system is very clever. That remotely-fired mortar system offsets a technology I designed to detect the position of a fired mortar and then accurately send a 120mm round at in less than 18 seconds. Sends me back to the drawing board, so to speak.

It indicates to me that we should never be too arrogant to recognize and adversary's inventiveness. It causes underestimation and that leads to flawed tactics and techniques, then increased losses.

Frankly, I was reacting to the ISIS/ISIL thing as I just finished a long email to someone the prior evening and sensitized to the 41 times the Puppet used ISIL in his statement yesterday.

I understand your reaction completely. Whenever Dear Leader's image comes on the TV, I punch up another channel and watch a re-run on MeTV or Hallmark Movie channel. The sound of the babbling bozo sets my teeth to grinding.
