I wouldn't necessarily call Bogie anti-American, though. First, back in the 30s and the 40s when Roosevelt was in charge, leftists weren't necessarily against FDR's America. Second, Bogart's political views weren't as consistently and passionately leftist or liberal as Bacall's. He was more influenced by people around him, including Bacall, and tacked left or right accordingly. Third, it's not easy to get at the truth behind all the rumors. Not everybody who brought charges was reliable.
We conservatives, as a political and societal unit, lack what has been called the "fight gene". Our enemies have it, and they kick our a**es at every bend of the road because of it. They will continue to do so until we being fighting back, using the same tools and tactics they've used against us for decades. We're trying to play chess against an MMA cage fighter, and it's not working.
The answer is for us to get mad, get mean, and start throwing punches right back. Yeah, we're gonna get hit, we're gonna get our noses broken (maybe literally, if we do it right), but you can't use Queensbury rules against guerrilla fighters.
