Any one else heard of this....???
****************************************************
Brown (governor of California) and Perry (governer of Texas) along with Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada are in a heated battle over a secret project known as Operation Bluestar. Alongside them are several members of Congress, international technology conglomerates across Asia, and several Silicon Valley heavyweights. All wanting to partner with Straubel on Operation Bluestar.
Being called the new area 51, the stakes are high as the project will impact 8 million jobs and over 700 billion dollars of the US economy. Forbes calls the project world changing and the top military think tank Rocky Mountain Institute is calling the impact as basically reinventing fire.
Having been top secret until now, only a handful of people have any idea what it is or how this project will completely transform the country.
Operation Bluestar is a gigafactory (1000 acres, 10 million square foot facility) that will allow for the manufacturing of 500,000 electric cars a year. These cars will be cheaper, faster, and easy to obtain once this gigafactory goes live in 2017. You will never pay for gas again. You will pull up, charge in minutes, and leave, no charge. At launch its expected 98% of America will have access to a charging station.
Silicon valley expert Michael Robinson used all his resources to conduct his own investigation into the secret project. Calling it an economic war between the states vying for control of what will likely turn out to be the biggest development project of the decade.
California was the first pick but apparently that is no longer the case and now Texas is pulling every string it can, including media outlets, to get the rights to the project.
There are 3 other states fighting for the rights but Michael Robinson believes the project will be built across multiple states.
Reviews
Morgan Stanley released a report determining We are witnessing the most disruptive intersection of manufacturing, innovation, and capital experienced in more than a century.
Wired Magazine says this will begin a truly transformative revolution.
History
Projections say that Operation Bluestar will be around 1,000 acres and include a 10 million square foot facility.
All this stems from the US Missile defense agencys Phantom Eye and DARPAs Vulture satellite program. Now this space age propulsion system is being furthered through this new project Operation Bluestar.
J B Straubel built a gas-turbine hybrid powertrain with an energy storage subsystem that used regenerative braking and early findings suggest this propulsion system would double the current range and performance of existing technologies. -Robinson He also dropped this propulsion system into a Porsche 944, converting it into an electric vehicle and broke the worlds 1/4 mile speed record at 17.28 seconds going 79.4 mph. He then went on to co-found Tesla motors and built one of the fastest vehicles on the planet.
Straubel founded Volacom (aerospace company) where be began designing drones using a high altitude, long-endurance propulsion system using hydrogen power. Starting with Boeing licensing the tech for their military aircraft Phantom Eye. Phantom Eye drones are expected to be able to reach an altitude of 60,000 feet and be able to remain in the air for 7-10 days (currently it can fly nonstop for 4+ days carrying a 450 pound payload traveling at 150 knots.
Since Phantom Eye runs on hydrogen, the only byproduct will be water which makes the drone green (and cheap). Phantom Eye is primarily for surveillance but can also be used for long range communications.
Straubels propulsion is also being used in DARPAs vulture pseudo satellite system and is expected to be able to remain in a tight, stationary orbit (90,000 feet) for over 5 years and will likely be deployed over battlefields and warring areas with no need for refueling or maintenance. Vulture will be solar powered rather than hydrogen powered.

This seems a bit .....well something of a greenie dream.
“You will never pay for gas again” —wow, that has scam written alll over it.
A gargantuan project led by government ends up SUCCEEDING..?
This sounds suspicious as heck.
I should shut-up —others probably know something.
You will never pay for gas again. You will pull up, charge in minutes, and leave, no charge.
Tesla is planning to build a big factory to make batteries. Estimated cost: $4 to $5 billion. The "Winning" state will have to pony up 10% of that.
Put on your thinking cap, Ernest. How are you possibly going to drive away and not pay for the electricity pumped into your batteries? Electricity costs are soaring and the government is forcing the shutdown of 100 GW (that's 100,000 Mega Watts!) over the next few years because they burn coal. Wind and solar are not economical and cannot be dispatched (i.e., turned on and off when you want). When you factor in mythical energy storage systems, wind and solar are going to cost MUCH more than coal and natural gas.
This article is a bunch of tripe. There's huge money going to be made and it's all the result of crony-fascism.
The United States currently produces more oil than Saudi Arabia.
Free electricity. Riiight.
I thought it was going to be something interesting. An electric car that runs on hydrogen? I have to ponder that a moment.. OK it’s maybe a hydrogen fuel cell technology that requires a relatively small electric current to operate? Some sort of electrically enhanced catalytic converter to produce the hydrogen? Hydrogen from catalysis of water? Now it needs a water tank too.
So they likely have some money
But it does sound like they are angling for Government money if it is real.
Supposedly this Straubel...has shown up on Varney and Company...which I watch frequent;y but have not seen this gentleman,.
Sounds right up there with “lose weight without dieting” and “try this one weird trick.”
Right after my last post it occurred to me that yep, it's a scam. Outrageously over hyped claims (World Changing! Next Great Age of Man!!, etc.) And it's going to be run with involvement of governments and mega corporations scattered around the world? That ought to work for them. Grab your wallets folks.
JB Straubel
JB Straubel (born Jeffrey B. Straubel, December 20, 1975) is part of the founding team and the Chief Technical Officer of Tesla Motors, an electric car company based in Palo Alto, California.[2] At Tesla, Straubel oversees the technical and engineering design of the vehicles. Straubel also has responsibility for new technology evaluation, R&D, technical diligence review of key vendors and partners, IP, and systems validation testing.[3]
In addition to his work at Tesla, Straubel is also on the Board of Directors for Solar City. He is also a lecturer at his alma mater, Stanford University, where he teaches the popular Energy Storage Integration class in the Atmosphere and Energy Program.

Tesla’s ‘Bluestar’ to be all-electric family car
Tesla aims for mass adoption of electric cars with a “family car” potentially produced with another automaker. Also planned: Electric minivans, coupes.

If there is any truth in it I’m surprised Perry would get involved. It would totally screw his state from the petro point of view.
Note this is a 2008 article
“If there is any truth in it Im surprised Perry would get involved. It would totally screw his state from the petro point of view.”
While I believe this is a bunch of hype if it was true he would be better off being an early adopter than just standing around holding on tightly to a buggy whip.
Pixie dust man.
