Maliki is an Iranian proxy - a puppet - nothing more...

This line in the story: “ If those in power in Iraq can simply ignore the constitution by mustering forces on their own behalf, which appears to be what Maliki is doing, then Iraq is drifting back into the Saddam Hussein days.”

Could also read:

If those in power in the United States can simply ignore the constitution by mustering forces on their own behalf, which appears to be what Obama is doing, then the US is drifting back into the ???? days.

Can’t finish the last part - we’ve never seen anything like this before...

Question: If the Kurds can re-take towns from ISIS this quickly given the support of U.S. air power, how could this situation have been different if we had deployed it when ISIS first starting rolling through the country? I think you know the answer.

We do know the answer. The Kurdish fighters are a disciplined fighting force. The Iraqi army is a disorganized joke. Air strikes in support of them would have made no difference.

At this point, I couldn’t care less what happens with that hot mess down in Baghdad. If these airstrikes and arms shipments can help the Peshmerga regain their footing and go on offense against ISIS, all the better.
