I’ll tell you why I don’t DISlike him instead:
Justice is supposed to be blind. Jesse got his justice despite the fact he was robbed by fate when his detractor was killed.
Jesse didn’t decide the verdict, neither did the judge. A jury decided. That’s the system.
Jesse didn’t sue a widow and her children. He sued the estate of somebody who caused him some sort of pain and damage. The women and the children had nothing to do with it — except they were the holder of the Estate Jesse was suing.
The fact that the estate was insured (apparently) for errors and omissions on the book is irrelevant. Had she had zero $, and no insurance, Jesse still had the right to sue. I must respect that right and that verdict.
I refuse to knowingly be a hypocrite. Some of you gnashed your teethe and pulled your beards when OJ Simpson was found not guilty, but then you cheer and congratulate yourself and the system when Joe Blow Blackguy is executed over the course of 4 hours for a heinous crime he committed and found guilty by a very same jury.
I tell you I like him for the very same reason I told everybody I like Ronald Reagan when those around me were saying horrible things about him, or I tell family at large gatherings I like Sarah Palin when they start in on her in the horrible liberal fashion of today. I tell you for the very same reason I stood up on a bus with 6 or 7 black adults and said I like George W. Bush and I think he’s intelligent and good for the nation — after they were all Jollying and laughing while telling ‘he’s so dumb’ Jokes about George W. Bush.
I really don’t care if he had “the right” to sue. Heck I could sue anybody if my feelings are hurt. And probably get a judgment. You and I both know that a good lawyer is the key to a winning verdict.
But was it the right thing to do? Was it honorable or was it about the $$$?
But I do know that it's next to impossible to win this kind of case in the USA, so Ventura must've had a good case.
This guy basically sucker punched an older fellow SEAL and went around the country getting laughs about it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've read, that ruffled some feathers even if (or especially if) Jesse is crazy.
You’re comparing Chris Kyle to OJ Simpson? Incredible.
None of your post 19 gives any explanation whatsoever why you like Jesse Ventura. As for “the Body” supposedly being hurt by thing saids about him, seems he can dish it out but he can’t take it. Ha has slandered just about everybody from George Bush to the entire country he calls The Fascist States of America. The guy’s a self promoting dirt bag and the lawsuit has nothing to do with that.
So we're supposed to applaud every verdict a jury decides because "that's the system"?
He sued an American hero over a pathetically small issue that nobody believes him on anyway.
He’s a twit, always has been.
The justice system is not justice, most people realize that. One person slips on a wet floor, gets up, walks away, and forgets it. Another falls under the exact same circumstances and collects $100k via the justice system.
People abuse the legal system, just as they abuse anything else. Ventura is a small, small man, who obviously has no shame.
U.S. Courts are not magical impartial justice dispensers. When a decision renders what is just, I praise it. When a decision is unjust, I criticize it.
Are you a Muslim Lawyer or just support them?
You didn’t tell me anything, you just listed a few “for the same reason as...” Tell me what is there to like. I want to know what your reasoning is.
