It is the old battle between blood line succession and democratic succession. We had such a feud in Scotland when the first ever western King selected by popular opinion and not blood line, became the Scottish King. Actually an integral component of Scottish history. So it is not, square beard verses rectangular beard. And coincidentally, we Scots who backed the democratic king succession line, ended up mostly here in America.
