It may be the rocket of your childhood but that was the rocket of my (our dreams). What a magnificent, splendorous thing of beauty. OMG! Elegant, graceful, a singular object of wonder lifting off that luanch pad in slow motion, 7.5 pounds of thrust battling the forces of gravity every inch of the way. The vibrations within the command module so overwhelming the astronauts could not get their eyes focused on a single gauge. The Saturn V, a thing of wonder the greatest technological tour-de-force of the 20th century.

Gone forever. You couldn't build one now if you tried.

That’s from when America believed in progress. Not the socialist type of progress which the liberals have since embraced, but real progress toward the future.

“7.5 pounds of thrust battling the forces of gravity every inch of the way.”
I know that you meant to say, ‘7.5 MILLION pounds of thrust’. ;-)

Come on now.
We could build it in 1947, or in 1957 either.
By 1967, we could build it.
When we have the will, we'll find the way.
Chinese astronauts waving at us from the surface of the moon could do the trick.

It’s amazing that we could get anything like this done back then (reach the moon, win two world wars, build the interstate highway system) without the homage damanded to the “gay” to make it all possible.
