Perp accused of sneaking into Senator's room stays in jail. Other people arrested on conspiracy charges. Judge throws book at them with bonds.
Good.
This is disgusting.
Some background on this story?
Couple of ‘Rat political operatives who run a blog
snuck into nursing home where Sen Thad Cochrane (R-MS)
wife is - she has dementia and is bed ridden
Took bunch of pictures and posted them on blog
‘Rats are disgusting
I would be interested as well. These are either the stupidest Tea Party people I’ve ever heard of, or they are plants. It’s basic common sense that trying to exploit someone in a home with dementia is going to come back to bite you. The only reason beyond pure idiocy to do it would be to discredit the opposition.
Hmm. Dale is a lifelong Democrat. It is all so very interesting. Characters everywhere.
Democrat when everyone was in that area.
Sorry, should be Senator’s wife’s room.
How do we know Thad Cochran didn’t set this up?
I’ve stated in another thread that I worked as an Administrative Assistant to the Director of a residence for Seniors with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
A conspiracy would be when someone inside the facility, or someone outside who was known to the facility, would walk Kelly into the facility under some pretense.
In CA you cannot enter a similar type of facility without having to be buzzed in. As far as I know, all Alzheimer’s facilities are LOCKED. However, I don’t know what MS laws are and if they lock their facilities. And .. the family who has “custody” of the resident, is the person who determines who visits and who doesn’t. Did Mr. Cochran give permission for the entrance of Kelly; or, did Cochran give permission for some other person who could walk Kelly into the facility.
I too do not believe McDaniel was involved; but .. we still need to know: HOW DID KELLY GAIN ENTRANCE INTO THE FACILITY ..????????
I've read elsewhere that these were not Dems but rather people working for Cochran's primary opponent. Is that wrong?
Thanks so much for that info. Most helpful.
I’ve been in nursing homes in MS that had alzheimers patients. The door opened from the outside but not the inside. To enter the facility you just opened the door. To leave you had to be buzzed out.
The ‘runners’ had ankle bracelets or other devices that would ‘beep’ if they attempted to go past a certain point in the lobby of the facility to alert the staff that ‘old mr. sneakyleaver’ was tryin’ to leave again.
“HOW DID KELLY GAIN ENTRANCE INTO THE FACILITY ..????????”
The fact that the Cochran campaign waited two weeks to contact the authorities means that crucial evidence of video surveillance and the like has probably been deleted or overwritten. We may never know. It would be sad for the Mrs if, while waiting to evaluating if the incident were going to affect the campaign, evidence to help them solve this were no longer available.
Thanks.
But what would they earn by doing this except getting a lengthy prison sentence. Unless they are programmed like cult members there is no way that they wouldn’t be caught. I also wonder why there is no critiquing/of the rest home whose security was compromised/breached.
Who let them in and took them to her room?
CA won’t allow any type of what could be considered as a “restraint”. But, we seemed to make our system work. Most of our ambulatory residents were able to exit out the back door - onto a patio, and a walking path with trees and gardens.
You’re welcome.
There were patios and stuff that were walled that they could easily exit. The beeping devices, I don’t know. Maybe the family asked they be put on? State laws may differ and the facilities themselves may have differing policies on patient safety.
I know enough to know that some alzheimers patients sit quietly and dream the day away, some are runners. The ankle bracelet stuff looked like the stuff they use for house arrest. One lady had hers sewn into the back of her wheelchair. She wasn’t ‘mobile’ anymore but could really scoot out in a hurry in that wheelchair if she wanted to. There was a big sign on the outside of the main entrance that instructed you to never ever let anyone ‘out’ when you entered. Make the door close all the way behind you when you came inside, etc. I don’t recall having to use a visitors pass or anything like that either. It was a very small town though.
What I remember most distinctly was the man whose wife was an alzheimers patient for several years. Both older, 60’s or 70’s. Every morning he’d come by before work and get her dressed, diapered and feed her like a baby. He took his lunch hour and fed her lunch and diapered again. After work he’d feed her supper, help get her ready for bed. Such devotion. That lady has no idea what kind of a saint she was married to. Clearly not the same sort of man as this thread is about.
from article: Tea party makes its last stand in Mississippi, targeting longtime Sen. Thad Cochran
although they sensed that McDaniel had been gaining steam before the nursing home episode.
What they get is damage to their opponent.
