A Texas teenager whose date died in their hotel room after her senior prom has sent a series of emotional text messages to a friend suggesting she passed away following an overdose. The unidentified date frantically called 911 on Saturday morning after waking up in a North Houston Hyatt to find that 17-year-old Jacqueline Gomez was not breathing. Investigators said that the MacArthur High School senior showed no outward signs of injury and the results of her autopsy are pending. They added that her boyfriend is not suspected of any crime. Now text messages that he sent to one of Gomez's friends on Saturday afternoon have indicated that investigators believe she might have overdosed, the Houston Chronicle reported.

This is why you don’t let your 17 year old high school daughter stay in a hotel overnight with a boy. I must be getting old because I’m shocked.

Do you really think the parents knew about the hotel room? Seriously. Excuses like spending the night with a girlfriend, who will back her up, and is probably also in a hotel room with her date are rampant. No one tells the truth anymore. Zero and politicians, along with educators, are setting the example. And telling them not to trust their parents.

I’m old.

We went to the beach after the prom——and stayed out late.

We thought we were quite rebellious.

My,how things have changed.

I did the same thing after our prom. Drove to the beach. My dad gave me a curfew of 2 am. Prior to that all curfews were 11pm.

He also told me he would drive down to the shore, no questions asked, if my date had ANY alcohol and couldn’t drive home

I don’t know what my dad said to my date but he didn’t drink the entire night, had me home by 12:30 and gave me a chaste kiss on the cheek at the end of the night.

“I don’t know what my dad said to my date-————

Probably said nothing-—just gave him “the look”.

In the blue collar factor cesspool where I grew up in the 80’s, it was unfortunately common. I didn’t participate, but I heard stories. It always amazed me why the girls would let themselves be passed around like that.

I don’t know what my dad said to my date

He didn't have to say a word, he just sat there cleaning his gun.

Hate to say it, but I think that may be the new norm.

Groups of kids in our area of South Jersey pool their money and rent beach houses for prom night weekend.

I am sure it was something along those lines. I never asked him. But I can tell you, when I lived at home with my folks during college brakes during the 80s, if a guy came calling for either my sister or me and he was not dressed according to what my father thought appropriate, or had the right hair cut, he wasn’t let past the front door.

Even when I thought I had met the right guy when I got engaged, I did not accept until he got dad’s seal of approval.

Dad is a WW II vet. He is the most wonderful man I’ve ever known. My heart will shatter when he’s gone,

I asked permission of my FIL before I asked my future wife.

One of my co-workers is suffering through a bitter divorce from a crazy lady.

They had a prom-night baby and got married ... but the wife seems like she refuses to grow up.

I shed crocodile tears that my daughter had no date for prom night and went out for coffee and baked cookies with friends. (I saw hte evidence on Facebook)
