The bottom line is that things all depend on the players on other teams that face him. They may choose to put him on the disabled list, they may treat him like an ordinary opponent, or they might refuse to even touch him.

This last one could get interesting. It would start by running all plays on the other side of the formation, which is easy to do as he is a defensive end. That is, never throw a ball to the offensive receiver on his side. This denies him any glory at all.

If their coach gets upset and demands they run plays on his side, they can just toss him a softball and not chase him, as he scores three or four 70 yard touchdowns unopposed. This would enrage the bookies, who have a lot of pull.

The bottom line is either by cutting him off or making him look like nobody wants to play with him, he is ostracized. So he turns into a big negative for the league, and takes a lot of the fun out of the game.

I guarantee you, that if, like Tebow, Sam helps lead his team into the playoffs, that they win a couple games in the playoffs, and then he gets ripped off the team, sent to those who won’t play him, and then blacklisted around the entire NFL....I guarantee you that, unlike with overtly Christian Tebow, there’ll be a media outrage screaming “discrimination!”
