I am going for the republican Hoover.
A democrat Hoover will make the depression deeper and longer and may even start WWIII like Roosevelt used WWII to get out of the depression.
Just look at Argentina. The socialists keep getting elected and they have had a depression for about 25 years now with no end in sight.
Herbert Hoover DID make the depression worse. There’s this myth that he just sat back and did nothing. Not true. He actively intervened significantly in the economy. If he HAD sat back and done nothing there would have been a sharp contraction but a quick recovery.
The country needs a republican for sure, but all it took is Hoover for the republican party to be tarred as the depression party; whereas the democrats are never called the War party.
