What is a Tea party flag?
To: God luvs America
What the IRS doen’t understand is that people in the Tea Party are more likely than not to obey the law, in spite of how much the law sucks. They’re wasting their time in that way. Of course, if harassment is the goal, they’re doing OK in that regard.
Anyhow, they’d make out better checking in to entitlement fraud by the “taker” class — their own class.

” If I were going to have to go the expense of having a tax attorney, I would also have him file a Freedom of Information Act demand for any and all paperwork, emails, phone calls, calendars, etc. relating to his Congresswomans contact with the IRS, both with the IRS, and with the Congresswomans office. “
Indeed, do some searching, find out if there is already a Conservative Lawyer group that is pursueing this and find out if joining forces would be advantageous.
I would say that maybe investigating this digging deep on this may very well be more important than running for any office.

If you’ve paid the items in question, gather up your recepits and submit them. In my limited experience with the IRS as a correspondence audit, that’s all they wanted and the matter was resolved amicably. I agree with being prepared but no point in over-reacting either.

What, were you paying your real estate taxes in cash?
And if your child is young enough for the childcare credit, have you lost her birth certificate already?
Lots of people get audited. How did you challenge Lowey?

When there is a multitude of laws, the powers that be need only select a few laws to nail someone against the wall...

in addition to the good advice already cited and after documenting your innocence, you may want to call issa and the rest of the house GOPe and report it as a potential ethics violation.
report back on the “help” you receive, but don’t hold your breath.

Birth certificates are only the first step. School registration showing address of residency of the chikdren. Thusly proving the children actually live with you at that residence.

I've been through an audit and quite frankly, I don't know why you're so upset. Just document your numbers and you're done.
You took certain deductions (eg, taxes, childcare) and now they want you to document those deductions. You do have the documents, right?
And the connection between the audit and your Tea Party flag is probably just coincidental. You most certainly could never prove otherwise.
I would not get a lawyer at this point. If they disallow some deductions and you don't agree, then get a lawyer.

It is going take the republicans taking control of all branches of the government thus applying pressure on the democrats to see how they fight. That didn't happen after Bush was elected and took over from Slick Willey. He refused to do a purge of Washington of all Clinton insiders. I doubt any incoming Republican would either.
This was the one reason I wanted Romney in. That was his number one task when he transitioned to Governor of MA. He cleaned house after Jane Swift had polluted the place with her hacks and sycophants. I was looking forward to a clean sweep of the first and only Obama Regime. But, the fix was in and now we'll never get rid of all the traitors embedded there.

Of course, he could just deal with the audit and forget it...Until they audit him again next year. This is not a coindidence. three of my brothers/step-brothers reached voting age in 2012, voted for Romney, and were all promoptly audited. Random? I doubt it.
This sort of crap will not stop happening unless enough people push back.

IRS = Leftist hit squad. The power to tax is the power to destroy. And now the IRS has its own SWAT team to put the boot to your throat. Good luck with working within the system, because the system is now out to crush any of the leftist’s opposition.
