If people wish to bury their heads in the sand and think these comments are not absolute political poison even in the very best of context, I guess its just further proof that a whole lot of well meaning conservatives have zero political sense.
Talking about the Negro and the fact that they havent learned how to pick cotton and wondering aloud whether they might not have been better off as slaves is just not going to fly. With these comments, Bundy has destroyed himself and tarred a lot of politicians that stood, however tentatively, with him.
I dont think Bundy is probably much of a hater. Hes from another generation and maybe just hasnt updated his vocabulary. I can see he was thinking out loud and trying to point out how destructive the social welfare state is, but you just cant go around saying things like this and think it wont cause a firestorm that wont end well for anyone who says it or is associated with it.
This thread reminds me of the Akin threads. Every political realist understood that his idiotic rape comments had destroyed any chance he had to win, yet so many people refused to see political reality. We got 6 more years of Claire because of that.
He's an old rancher. If you expect old Rancher's to not speak their mind and to be politically correct you have another thing coming.
I'm going to go waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out on a limb and say, from what I have heard from him; it doesn't even seem that racist. There is more than one kind of slave and anyone you depend on for to feed you can become your master.
>If you expect old Rancher’s to not speak their mind and to be politically correct you have another thing coming.
Once again, It’s not the ones who know the score and can see the writing on the wall, it’s the sheeple and MSM that are the morons. Not the realists.
Anyone or anything that deprives one of self-autonomy destroys body, mind and soul. I would put drug addiction into the category of slavery.
I would venture to say that Mr. Bundy has gone to bed bone tired, with every muscle aching, more nights than not, but with a heart full of gratitude for the freedom to enjoy the fruits of working so hard that it hurts. He was not expressing racism, IMHO, but pain at the inability of so many of his fellow men to have the opportunity to do likewise.
So the man's not a great orator...I'll take the in-artful statement of a man who knows how to work over the soaring rhetoric of an elitist snake any day.
