I can understand why information was not released while he was out of the country or possibly going to use as evidence in court BUT

I’d say they get on with it when they are ready. There is still an active criminal investigation going on where the MCSO won’t jeopardize that investigation. Once that is concluded, or they have been determined that a presser will not effect the case, then they’ll let the public know.
