An interesting look into small town anti-second amendment politics.

Okay, now who should we blame for this? The VOTERS, that’s who. They are the ones that elected these IDIOTS to run their town. It never seems to amaze me. Voters in a town, city, county, state or even federal VOTERS are complaining what their politicians are doing or have done. Now, do you believe me when I say “ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES”? Maybe, next time you’ll vote with your eyes wide open and choose someone that thinks the same way you do.

YEP. Interesting indeed.
What this does show is that pro-2nd folks are not guaranteed safety or like-mindedness in a small town. Power trippers and fascists live in every town and in every government.

Eureka Springs is where the fruits and nuts live. However, the people who flock there and spend millions on B&B’s, restaurants, gift shops, etc. It is a mecca for bikers and classic car groups who like to ride the mountain roads. They could easily decide to go somewhere else for just one weekend and you’d hear more squealing of pigs than you get at a Razorback football game.

Eureka Springs is an artsy-fartsy tourist town that is not a typical rural Ozarks town. They’re big draw used to be the “Christ of the Ozarks” statue and “Passion Play” but they have pretty well destroyed that by catering to the motorcycle crowd, they welcome with open arms (no pun intended ;-) ;-)) the Hell’s Angels and Banditos to the point of having several unsolved murders from the bad blood between the two.

It sounds like a couple on their city council are fruit loops but calmer heads prevail.

It is a rather odd small town, somewhat eccentric.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eureka_Springs,_Arkansas

(N.B. Eureka Springs is northeast of Fort Smith, where judge Issac Parker issued justice.)

I did notice this little item:

“The only bank robbery to occur in Eureka Springs was on September 27, 1922, when five outlaws from Oklahoma tried to rob the First National Bank. Three of the men were killed and two others wounded.”

“While largely forgotten, The Great Eureka Springs Bank Robbery is one of the most sensationalized, highly publicized robberies in the annals of American journalism. The story was covered in nearly every major newspaper - from the Grand Rapids (Michigan) Herald to the Wichita Eagle, from the Salt Lake City Tribune to the Tulsa World; from the Joplin Globe to the Kansas City Star. It was even featured in an article entitled “Death Trap” which was published in the Startling Detective Magazine.”

Heck of a good story, found here.
