Thank You! I always utilize this point when talking to my gun-control advocate family and friends. It makes some stop and think, but most stare silently for a second while the cognitive dissonance kicks in.
If you would call the police and wish for their 'protection' when you found yourself in danger or the victim of a crime... you are NOT anti-gun. You are a statist who believes the state should have a monopoly on arms and violence.
The second part, of course, is answering their question of "why does anyone need an 'assault weapon' or a high-capacity magazine? with "the same reason the police need them."
This bar owner is free to ban whomever he likes. Well, actually he's not... try banning gays/blacks/Jews or something and see what happens. But he should be free to ban whomever he wants if it's private property. He must then live with the consequences when people boycott his bar. Or when criminals decide he's an easy target for armed robbery.
I usually say, it's a Bill of Rights, not a bill of needs. Although, both our retorts work well.

At 3:18 in the video:
Governor Cuomo and Mayor Bloomberg said that "assault weapons" are "weapons of war", and don't belong on the streets of America.
If that's true, why do the police need them? Who are the police at war with?
Who, indeed?
