Some women have boyfriends named ‘BOB’.

Bug Out Bag... sort of like the Swiss Family Robinson’s ship, which carried all the inventory of 2 Walmarts and 3 Home Depots.

When the Doodoo hits the wind appliance I will be taking care of mine and not giving a dissertation on the particulars.

Anything can happen at any time. Heck, at least one of the Rothschilds (the people who supposedly control the whole world) died in the Nazi concentration camps.

With a gun you have an option, without one you have none.
The issue is not risking your life for STUFF, it's defending yourself and your family against those who would take the STUFF that you stored to keep your family alive.
Like food, water, clothes, fuel, medicine that may be irreplaceable when SHTF.
That kind of stuff. Necessary items, not the big screen TV.
You still have the option of surrendering if the odds are against you.
Then you have to consider whether the thugs are going to let you live or if it would have been better to take as many of them with you as you could.
For every thug you kill, some other prepper and family may live.

Kart, the simple fact is that most wise people that are preppers are not equipped to “run”. Physical or otherwise. I suggest to those that they have a Scorched earth plan.
To: Tijeras_Slim
You are so right about Swiss Family Robinson!
They prospered on that desert island because they had all the shipwreck spoils to themselves, and everyone else on that ill-fated ship was dead!
Howcum no one else survived the ship running aground? The captain was killed by a falling spar, but what about all the others?

The best way to survive is to limit contact with things/people and situations that can kill you.
And the best way to do that is not be seen.
And the best way to not be seen is don't move around outside of your well camoed/concealed safe zone unless it is absolutely necessary...

I haven’t read the book but in the Disney movie, the crew abandoned ship.
It was a pretty good movie and while maybe not realistic, it sure beat “Gilligan’s Island.

I doubt if I could survive on the run. Food, water, and shelter etc is not just stuff it is necessary to survive. If I can’t bug in, I’m probably doomed anyway, so might as well fight for it.

Still pretty convenient for the sake of the story; nice not to have to share.
I remember Sessue Hayakawa as the pirate leader & how the family fought off the pirate invaders with coconut hand grenades.
