I thought that popes were supposed to remain celibate. Why would Francis have been considering a homosexual civil union?

I have stopped reading anything he says, and all things everybody else claims he really said. So I do not know about him considering a homosexual civil union.

I keep getting told the pope is the Victor of Christ or some language like that. Christ was/is far more plain spoken than this guy is. So that leads me to believe he needs attention, and does not care from whom he receives it. Kinda like a politician or a Hollywood starlet.

It's "vicar."

" Vicar, Latin: vicarius, is a representative, deputy or substitute; anyone acting "in the person of" or agent for a superior (compare "vicarious" in the sense of "at second hand"). In this sense, the title is comparable to lieutenant. Linguistically, vicar is the root of the English prefix "vice", similarly meaning "deputy".

The Church says bishops are "vicars and ambassadors of Christ." The pope is the Bishop of Rome and the term "vicar of Christ" is used for him.
