Hello this is Vlad, Cold in your country? Gas may be shut off if market is closed. I have to go Bambi is on hold.
Ukraine can shut down the gas in the far west and still maintain flow for use inside the country. Check the map.
The problem with that is the financial repercussions. Russia’s oil and gas exports provide the income for 50% of its budget. How long can Russia cut off its nose to spite its face?
Putin has a lot of options. Shame we don’t.....
Even after completion, together they will have far less capacity to move the product.
They are not building them to replace Ukraine pipelines, but to supplement them with more product.
I think Europe is more interested in buying the gas than Russia need to sell it. China may also prove to be an alternative market for Russia’s gas.
And freeze solid? Not likely.
Putin is way ahead, Russia has built additional pipelines, and has full control of all of 'em.
What Putin doesn't want is pipelines built for Saudi group suppliers through Syria and Turkey, and it is unlikely they will be built.
Russia could care less about Western Ukraine.

(BBC) Ukraine: UK rules out Russia trade curbs?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Obammy’s State Department, interject ‘F the EU’ recently concerning the Ukrainian Crisis, they are definitely on top of this.
As a FREEPER said recently, nothing is so bad that his highness cannot screw it up worst.
The source of the gas is still Russia. Russia has shut off Ukraine in the past for unpaid bills and for embezzlement of the gas, which had the side-effect of shutting off Europe as well.
Ukraine has had talks with Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan about a pipeline under the Black Sea to bypass Russia which would give them a non-Russian source of oil and gas. It would have come ashore in Crimea, though, if I'm not mistaken.
I don't think it ever got off dead-center, though. They did build a pipeline out through Turkey, though.
My remarks don’t take away anything from your original point, which is that Russia might ultimately reoccupy Ukraine, or at least the western Russian portion.
I remember Mrs Gorbachev making the remark, when Ukraine became independent, that “we just can’t conceive of them as foreigners” or something to that effect.
Ukraine is going to be put to the test. What are they willing to pay for their independence. How badly do they want it.
Couldnt they just turn off the gas that flows into Ukraine? You know, in Russia?
