Organizing the New Cold War

Maybe I am a little too focused on the Ukraine for a guy from New Jersey, probably because I partly concentrated on Russia in my study of economic history thirty some years ago. But this whole thing is just becoming hilarious. As the retrograde United States publicly draws down its military strength, we are reduced to the media propagandists telling the low information voters what is happening. While trying the catch the latest on on the Real Housewives of New Jersey, it wafts into our consciousness that President Obama on Friday issued a harsh warning against any further military action.

Cue the Big Bad Wolf! Alexander Zaldostanov, nicknamed "the Surgeon," has mounted his hog along with his brother Night Wolves to roll through the Crimea to Sevastapol. Brother Vladimir has remained ensconced in Moscow, taking care of business.

“Every cobblestone in [Sevastapol] is covered in the blood of our fathers and grandfathers,” frames this story. Advertisers are flocking to the search terms, "Crimean War." With the issue so framed, the Night Wolves could not have defined their policy statement more clearly: “We are here to defend our country, or at least the parts of it that remains ours. We will defend it from the fascists who have come to power. So let it be known to all of them. Wherever we are, wherever the Night Wolves are, that should be considered Russia.” You have moments of clarity while riding your hog I suppose.

"A true outlaw finds the balance between the passion in his heart and the reason in his mind. The outcome is the balance of might and right." Now, as the Night Wolves ride into minds of the American low information voters, who know the Jax really loves Tara, our foreign policy is reduced to a debate with the Russian SAMCRO.

In the meantime, the Moscova has kept our carriers pinned in the Arabian Sea, without much of a chance of a naval engagement that decimates the Black Sea Fleet. Score one for the Russians and the Night Wolves, zero for the little piggies

John Kerry insists this should not be a Cold War story. It already is a Cold War, because that is how Community Organizers thrive.

There was also a siege of Sevastopol in WWII as well as in the Crimean War.

So Putin is getting a motor cycle gang to do his work for him?

Maybe it was not a good idea to push the "macho shirtless Putin" meme so aggressively.

The steady succession of Leftists since Reagan to Obama with the possible exception of GW has weakened our military enough to possibly not be a threat to Russia or other aggressors. This obviously needs fixing and the Ukraine may not be an issue by the time we fix things. Nevertheless, we should do basically what the American People and Reagan did in the 80's to deal with Russia and any other aggressors in the future:

1) oust the current regime in Washington DC
2) get the economy back on right footing by HUGE CUTS IN GOVERNMENT AND TAXES and letting the free market do what it does best: CREATE WEALTH,
2) Build the military back up once again to the world's strongest (weakness not strength invites war), 3) take down the NSA and other threats to American citizens
4) build up our intelligence community to make it first rate

Whatever aggressor-country hotspots including the Ukraine are relevant after 1-4 is done...

5) with good and verified intelligence, we should covertly work with the forces of freedom in the threatened country. In the case of the Ukraine if it’s still relevant, discern whether eastern Ukraine wants to join Russia and whether western Ukraine does not,
6) THEN, with actual and overwhelming force at our disposal, we should condemn the aggressor (Russia in this case) for threatening to invade the threatened country (Ukraine in this case) and move forces into the area with full intention of defending those that want to remain free.
7) we should seek diplomacy with the aggressor nation on the basis of our strength not weakness and any treaties or agreements should be based on “trust but verify.”
