Fords “republican pick” of Justice Stevens was about as good as nearly every other Republican pick in the last 40 years.
His solution is to amend the text of the Second Amendment so that it reads: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms when serving in the militia shall not be infringed.”
We are all militia now.
What does this pinhead think the 2nd amendment guaranteed, that citizens have the right to bear arms when they are in the military????
How about an amendment to guarantee the right to be wet when you’re in water?
I didn’t care for the title either.
Hypocrites like Stevens never have to live with the consequences of their decisions.
The best thing would be to sanction them to lifetime Sec. 8 housing, “affirmative action” victims for their kids and grandkids, and public schools for all of them.
Ford was put into congress because he played football. He’s the only vice president and president who was never elected. I put my vote for him in the same category as my vote for mccain. I was blind!
WHIP INFLATION NOW!
“You could thank the idiot Gerald Ford for making us endure Justice Stevens”
You could thank Nixon for Ford.
You could thank Eisenhower for Nixon.
You could thank Hitler for Eisenhower.
We’re back to the Nazis now, good enough?
What’s Ford’s “Bacon Number”?
LOL! The title did suck, didn’t it?
Ford was a RINO in the same mold as Romney and McCain. And just like Romney and McCain he could never win a presidential election.
And yet, the GOPe continually insist that they are the only type that can win a Presidential election.
And great swaths of the GOPe voter base continue to drink the Kool-aid.
Blame the guy that picked Agnew in the first place. The same guy also picked Gerald Ford.
“Doesnt the perceived need to change the 2nd confirm that it means what we all say it means?”
Sure does.
LOL
If it weren’t for that RINO Hindenberg
IIRC, didn’t both Stevens and Souter retire during a Democrap administration, even though both were Republican appointees?
Republicans have studiously avoided appointing “conservatives,” and consequently have been “surprised” by their appointees. But resigning during a Republican administration? An unprecedented level of betrayal.
BTW: I thought it was sad that Byron White resigned during a Democrap administration, even though he had to know that Clinton would replace him with a baby-killer. But that’s how powerful that tradition was.
Ford’s “Bacon Number” is “1”. Ford and Bacon appeared in “Frost/Nixon”, though Ford’s appearance was via archive footage.
He should have went with his first instinct and became a Democrat when he went to Grand Rapids after World War II and married a divorcee. Ford (an alias), like Bush, is a name dead to me.
And he also picked Henry Cabot Lodge, II. Apparently ol’ Cabot Lodge, I, was alright, but not what came later.
You are absolutely right, but our little Republican primary voters will continue to nominate the WRONG man.
Had he picked Rep. Walter Judd (R-Minn.) as his running mate, I believe Nixon would have won the election. Judd was a solid conservative and an articulate and spellbinding speaker. He was also a solid conservative. After eight years of "me, too" Republicanism, many Americans were eager for a leader who would take us in a conservative direction, as evidenced by the huge rallies for Sen. Barry Goldwater (R-Ariz.) at the GOP's National Convention in Chicago.
However, Nixon chose to give the back of his hand to conservatives, many of whom stayed home in November, believing that the election pitted Tweedledee against Tweedledum.
Lets say when they go too far and we get Fed up with them, WE THE PEOPLE amend it to be the following:
The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
And tell the Commie Left to play in the traffic
