so can the term "beard" be used for a man too?.....as in a situation where a lesbian takes a man along on a date to show she's not a lesbian?

I think I speak for most women, but being involved with any guy who donks other guys even just "part time" would not be my cup of tea...how can the wookie stand it?....of course look at the side benefits of riches and fame well beyond what she would have ever garnered on her own...

Good question, cherry. I would imagine but I am not well-versed in the homosexual lexicon. (I only realized what "beard" referred to about 10 years ago, and that was in reference of a homosexual man with a female accompanying him).

‘Beard’ is generic for anyone acting secretly for another, but is increasingly used to mean specifically cover for homosexuals.
