What probably made the dead woman hesitate about going to the emergency room is the same thing that would make me hesitate: I know it would several thousand dollars, and in this economy I don’t have several thousand dollars, nor anywhere to get it. You never think you might really die, and you think you’re going to get into what could be real financial trouble over something that isn’t that big a deal.

You, sir, could use a little work on developing a bit of compassion. Sometimes it’s not the case that people are blowing large sums for a car and cell phone. Sometimes people really don’t have money. If they’re inner city residents they know the system and have Medicaid, but millions of middle class Americans don’t qualify. Frankly, I’m surprised to read a Freeper blaming a woman for her own death when we can so clearly see that the devastation caused by Obama was the real problem.

I didn’t blame her per se’ but rather the collective thought that we don’t need “health care” unless someone else is going to pay for it. Yet, we don’t expect our car insurance to pay for our gas and oil changes.
No one dies from lack of insurance... Hospitals HAVE to by law provide treatment to all who arrive at the ER without concern for payment. Every hospital will work with the patient, usually at NO Interest to accept payment plans. For instance, when my wife had surgery in 1958, all without insurance, her father paid a monthly payment to the hospital for 20+ years without any interest until the amount was satisfied, with no concern for the inflation effect of those later dollars reduced value.
It’s all about what is important to you.... she simply gambled that her symptoms were not worth the expense and it cost her her life.
Would she have sought care without Obama care legislation, perhaps, but perhaps not as she likely had a deductible pre-Obama and that also may have kept her from seeking care. It’s ultimately personal choice - at least until the ultimate governmental take over of health care occurs which will be sooner rather than later.
