If we had only voted for strong conservatives, then maybe the liberals would have won more elections, would have shoved more socialism at America faster, and Americans would have jumped out of the pot before they were boiled.
I really do think that Obama has miscalculated and that Obamacare is going to heat up the pot faster than even the most ardent liberal can stand. When millions of people find out that they are going to have to spend thousands more on medical insurance it is going to tank the economy big time.
If Romney had won the election we would now be talking about a "kindler, gentler" Romneycare version of Obamacare. That truly would have been another slow boil that would have kept more Americans comfortably warming themselves in the socialist stew.

From my seat, I can only see conservatives slowing the trend towards socialism when you consider how deeply it has infected our culture. Slowing it until there is a major event or generations of youth wake up to the realities of life.
Liberal/Progressives have seemingly convinced the pop culture voting zombies that they have a right to be stupid and they will, by force of Government, enforce those rights.
No one is allowed to “Call out” someone for their stupidity for fear of being labeled as “anti-this-or that”.
We/they have created a culture that “Embraces Uncertainty”.
