AUSTIN State Sen. Wendy Davis and Democrats propelling her gubernatorial bid have attracted quite a bit of unwanted attention in the last couple of weeks: national and state media prodding deep into Davis biography and the James OKeefe-infiltration of Battleground Texas, for example.
Add this to the list: It appears folks are lining up to file complaints against Davis with the Texas Ethics Commission.
There have been two examples this week and it highlights just why the commission has argued to keep its complaint process private, since the filings are often used to smear opponents before their merits are weighed.
The most recent involves an ex-state lawmaker who filed a trio of ethics grievances Wednesday against two of Davis fundraising committees and Battleground Texas, alleging they failed to properly report a variety of expenditures and contributions.
Former state Rep. Connie Scott, R-Corpus Christi, launched the complaints against Battleground Texas, the Wendy Davis for Governor Committee and the Texas Victory Committee, a joint fundraising arm established by the Davis camp and Battleground Texas. All three are supporting Davis gubernatorial bid.
Scott alleges the following:
Davis Governor Committee violated state campaign finance rules by failing to report more than $110,000 in expenditures from the Texas Victory Committee to Davis as in-kind contributions.
Texas Victory Committee improperly reported expenditures in the range of $165,000, saying its report does not correctly list the correct payee.
Battleground Texas did not report a contribution or credit from the Texas Victory Committee in an amount of about $37,000.

Perhaps all the ethics questions being raised have the Wendy Davis/Dems circling the wagon.
NRO, Jonah Goldberg: The Cowardice of Wendy Davis
“Gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis was presented with Gov. Ann Richards shotgun Wednesday night in the best photo-op since Michael Dukakis climbed into that tank.”
Is Abortion Barbie being targeted the same way as Governor Palin? Life’s rough when your own tactics are thrown back at you!
The Houston Chronicle is LEFT LEFT LEFT politically (and the way the author bends over backward to write the story of this thread shows how conflicted he is). So for Wendy Davis to get the MSM riled took some doing. She doesn’t want questions.
Ask the Sarah Palin about political smears. Looks like some Texas conservatives are using the dems own tactics against them. Love to hear them whine!!

Now, where could thay have learned *that* tactic.
Karma.
Think of the children!
After Wendy wins the Dem. Primary the first words from her lips will be “debate.”
Her only chance is for a Clayton moment and don’t think that will happen.
