Here's another potential connection to the USSR.

Obama story is that he visited Pakistan the summer of 81, before attending Columbia for 2 years.

Facts:
1) Obama traveled to Asia the summer of 81.
2) Obama graduated from Columbia, this is according to the Student Clearing House, which also showed Obama as attending only one year, Fall 82 to Summer 83.
3) Many at Columbia, who should have known Obama, claim they did not meet him there, including Prof Henry Graff, who taught classes required of all pre-law and pol-sci students.
4) Soon after Obama was elected, the wikipedia entry for the Patrice Lumumba Peoples Freedom University in Moscow, was updated to show Obama as an alumni - it was soon updated to remove him, and the prior update was claimed to be a joke.

In my opinion this all makes sense.

In 1981, Obama did not just travel to Indonesia, and Pakistan to visit, he continued on to Moscow and attended the PFU in Moscow. Remember when Obama was elected to the Senate, he visited Russia on a Senate trip, and was detained - that is a VERY drastic action. I believe it has something to do with this. I would image that the Russian intelligence would want to gather whatever they could about any foriegn diplomat, it's possible they checked his fingerprints against their data, and up pops a kid from FPU! I'm sure that would pique their interest, and cause them to do something as drastic as detain a sitting US Senator.

When Obama transferred to Columbia, he did not just transfer his credits from Occidental, he also transferred credits from the PFU. This is why he only required one year at Columbia.

The Obama who attended the PFU was the real son of the Kenyan, renamed Roman Obama. There are photos of him on FR,he’s obviously the son of his father. Looks very like Barack Obama Sr. Roman was there for some years.
