I think you are dealing with two predominately different age groups here. There may be some mixing, but most kids ready to join the service have ‘gotten over’ Bieber, and see Miley Cyrus with an amused kind of jealousy. Not a serious aspiration. The said, yes, the botton two will get fifty times the publicity and coverage as the top two good kids.
The globe and anchor on the collar, and the single stripe on the sleeve, of the guy on the upper-right would imply he's a Marine enlisted.

That’s a Marine in the top right picture. Marines don’t attend West Point, the Army does.
