Well, 72 and sunny today. Redwoods and hiking in backcountry parts of Santa Clara only 15 minutes up the road. Beach is an hour away. Spectacular snow skiing 5 hours away as is Yosemite. Fresh fruit and vegetables year round.

78 here further south in CA...Flowers blooming and the vegetable garden and Orange trees are doing quite well..Growing food year round, wearing shorts and BBQing and playing golf in the dead of winter and year round, has it's pluses...Not to mention the salt and fresh water fishing, the mountains, beaches and desert and a whole lot of stuff to do, are all within an hour or so.

Living behind enemy lines has many great points. In fact those points are worth a small fortune to us.

My critiques of California go well beyond the high cost of living. Liberals running the state are solidly behind the $68 billion rail line. California governor Jerry Brown has recently followed Rick Perry's lead and is taxing the working class so he can afford to give instate college tuition and financial aide to ILLEGAL aliens. After years of failure, Gil Cedillo, known as "One Bill Gil" has finally succeeded in giving drivers licenses to the ILLEGAL hordes who infest the state. I own a business. I can think of no state that is more business unfriendly than California.

Yes, you can grow your own fruits and vegetables here. I live on 3.5 acres and grow everything from avocados to citrus to grapes to olives. But I know I could live far better elsewhere where I'm not being taxed to death to pay for the latest California leftist's handouts to ILLEGAls and other vermin who are milking the taxpayer dry. That small fortune you mentioned is growing faster than you may think.
