I live about 25-30 miles away from the Gulf in south Louisiana and can remember as a kid, old timers talking about there being more than a foot of snow down here.
I'm 67 and have never seen more than 1 1/2" in my life here.
Can't imagine more than a foot of snow.
Takes a real special setup to get any measurable snow down here, cold air already in place and a low forming off the coast of Texas and moving kind of quick to the northeast over us.
Usually at night, so that the temps are still low enough.
One of them *Gulf Vortexes*, LOL.

I live south of Houston...about 20 miles from the Gulf. It really does take a special setup. We were VERY BLESSED to have a Christmas snow in 2004. We got 8" at the house. It was incredible and what really sticks out is it was one of the only times I can ever recall most of my neighbors being outside at the same time...like a block party. Really cool.
