A friend of mine had a daughter who was a lawyer and couldn't find a job after 2 years of looking.

I suggested her daughter put together a brief letter stating some of the services she could provide and her experience and then offer herself as an independent contractor to local law firms at a low initial fee.

She got work at the second firm she talked to and after six months they hired her full time.

Moral of this story...take initiative and create your own job.

Excellent. 95% of people can't grasp this simple step. I have been telling my teenage kids this for several years now.

and she wasn’t 50plus tears old….

I agree with you but it is not like it used to be. The age you are (or are perceived to be) makes a HUGE difference
