I will say a lot of the supposedly ‘right wing’ parties mentioned are not right wing in the slightest, they’re just not as left wing as the other parties.

That was my thought too. Most of those European "conservatives" couldn't win election here because they'd be considered too far to the left.

While I'm being a curmudgeon: The author says that, in a parliamentary democracy, the 2010 midterms would have put a Republican in the White House. Quite true. And the 2006 midterms would have ousted Bush and put a Democrat in the White House. So what?
